Member Spotlight: Lisa’s Kangaroo Retreat
This month Tina & Tessa headed out to Redbank to visit Lisa’s Kangaroo Retreat, a Non-for-Profit organisation home to dozens of animals. This retreat relies on community and volunteer support to aid each animal in completing its journey to health and success. The team look after roos of all ages, from bottle feeding the joeys to large adult roos. This organisation is vital in the rehabilitation and survival of any animal that comes through its doors. To date, there have been over 763 roo releases and each to house and feed each roo is between $1500 – $2000.
Lisa’s Kangaroos Retreat also provides an informative tour, which is fantastic for team building days, school holiday programs, date and for the tourists that visit Port Hedland – if you haven’t been out there already, then the PHCCI highly recommend visiting as you will walk away having learnt interesting facts about kangaroos.
The organisation relies heavily on donations and support from local businesses – so if you are interested in making a donation, please head to their website, lisaskangarooretreat.com.au AND they are always looking for more salt lamps if you don’t know what to do with yours.
