2024 Business Excellence Awards: Diamonds in the Desert

The 2024 PHCCI Business Excellence Awards was a resounding success, drawing a record 270 attendees to the Esplanade Hotel to celebrate Port Hedland’s Diamonds in the Desert. This prestigious event honoured the outstanding achievements of local businesses, showcasing the best of Port Hedland’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.

The night’s top honour went to Outback Beef, who took out both Best Micro Business with 0-6 Employees and Best Overall Business. Their remarkable achievements set a high standard for excellence in our business community.

A standout moment of the evening was Quincey Pako’s heartfelt acceptance speech upon winning Apprentice/Trainee of the Year. Quincey emotionally thanked his mentor, for her unwavering support throughout his apprenticeship.

Another highlight of the evening was the announcement of BHP and PHCCI’s new three-year partnership, promising further growth and support for our local businesses.

The event flowed seamlessly, beginning with canapés and live acoustic music upon arrival, followed by a banquet dinner before the award presentations. A dessert buffet and DJ EMTEE then kicked off the celebratory dance floor, providing ample opportunities for networking.
